This fantastic local product is made entirely from hardwoods sourced from sustainably coppiced woodland near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It doesn’t have loads of road miles underneath it, the only carbon released from burning it is what the tree absorbed during its lifetime. It is made using traditional coppicing techniques – meaning the trees are managed and harvested instead of being cut down – so it’s not causing deforestation. It’s preserving an ancient tradition, and it’s also keeping a bloke in a forest in gainful employment doing a wonderful job managing woodland. What’s not to like?
