This design is based on a bespoke request from a customer, who wanted a knife for carving “fan birds”. It is a splitting tool, similar to a traditional draw knife, but intended specifically to create the thin feathers on hand carved fan birds.

The blade is 1mm thick, recycled from old saw blades, with a single bevel ground on one side only and full tangs to both handles. The handles are of oak and are pinned with brass. the knife is supplied with a handmade leather sheath.

These knives are handmade made to order – please allow up to two weeks for production….
